We’re featured in Forbes!

The “Reframing Revolution” gallery features medical illustrations of women’s health.

We are absolutely delighted to share that one of our most recent projects was featured in Forbes! After starting Biotic Artlab in 2020, we are excited to see medical illustration get its spotlight.

Did you know that fewer than 5% of images in medical textbooks and illustrations show people of color?

Together, we worked with Peanut (an online community for women) to create a royalty-free digital gallery of images that focuses on the diversity of women and women’s bodies. This “Reframing Revolution” gallery works to counter the lack of diversity that is seen in medical visualizations by making visible the invisible through representing:

  • age

  • body hair (arm, leg, pubic)

  • stretch marks

  • different ethnicities and skin tones

  • diversity of age

  • varying breast and nipple shapes and sizes

  • body sizes and fat folds

Topics covered in the collection:

  • IVF Bruising

  • PCOS

  • Linea nigra

  • Pregnancy breast changes

  • Ectopic pregnancy

  • Vaginal birth

  • Stillbirth

  • Postpartum body

  • C-section

  • Jaundice in babies

  • Breastfeeding

  • Hair loss

  • Hot flashes

  • Vulvas
