3D Render of Heart
with Overpaint

Overview: This 3D heart was created in Pixologic Zbrush, to use as a base to illustrate the heart. 3D models are useful to base illustrations on as they provide the anatomy in different perspectives.

In this case, we used the render as a base for a series of educational illustrations for pathologists in training.

3D is a valuable tool for medical illustration for the following reasons:

• The ability to put the object in the required perspective

• Ability to depict complicated shapes in a cleaner, simpler way

• Multiple uses for the model, including; animation, interactive design or as still images.
