Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about medical illustration, medical animation and what it's like to work with us.
A medical illustration studio creates visuals that explain science and medicine with accuracy. Depending on your goals, that could include medical illustrations, mechanism of action (MOA) animations, medical device animations, surgical visuals, or interactive content. At Biotic Artlab, we are a creative agency that specializes in science and medicine. With us, you'll work with a team that understands both science and visual communication. We help you explain complex ideas in ways your audience can quickly understand.
A mechanism of action (MOA) animation shows how a drug, biologic, gene therapy, or treatment works inside the body. It explains what happens at the molecular, cellular, or physiological level through clear scientific animation. You can use an MOA animation for product launches, medical education, conference presentations, investor meetings, or marketing. It helps your audience understand complex science much faster than text alone.
Biotic Artlab focuses on medical and scientific communication. Every project starts with building a strategy to make sure that the science is communicated as clearly and strongly as possible. When you work with us, you'll collaborate with people who understand healthcare, life sciences, and medical illustration. That means less time explaining technical concepts and more time creating impactful stories that are accurate from the start.
We work with companies and organizations across healthcare and life sciences. That includes pharmaceutical companies, biotech companies, medical device manufacturers, startups, research institutions, universities, medical journals, and healthcare marketing teams. If you need to explain complex science, we're built for that.
Every project follows a clear production process. We start by learning about your goals, audience, and scientific content. From there, we develop the script if needed, create a storyboard, design the visuals, produce the animation, and deliver the final files. You'll review each major stage before we move to the next one, so you always know where the project stands.
Most projects include two rounds of revisions during each major production stage, including storyboards, design, and animation. If your project needs additional revisions, we'll discuss the scope with you before moving forward.

Yes. We can provide professional voiceover, narration, sound design, and music licensing. If you already have a preferred voice artist or recorded narration, we'll work with that too.
Scientific accuracy guides every stage of production. We work from peer reviewed research, your reference material, and feedback from your subject matter experts. You'll review the content throughout the project so every scientific detail is checked before final delivery.
Yes. We work with medical device startups at every stage of growth. Whether you're raising investment, preparing for a product launch, or exhibiting at a conference, we create visuals that help you explain your technology with confidence.

Yes. We regularly produce work that supports Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) review. We build review stages into the production process and make updates based on approved feedback from your internal teams.
The cost depends on the scope of your project. Animation length, scientific complexity, visual style, and production time all affect pricing. Once we understand your goals, we'll provide a detailed proposal with a fixed project quote.
Pricing is tailored to each project. Every project (medical illustration, animation, etc.) has different goals, timelines, and production requirements. After we review your brief, you'll receive a proposal that outlines the scope, timeline, and project cost.
Let us know your deadline as early as possible. We often support product launches, conferences, funding rounds, and publication deadlines. If your schedule allows it, we'll adjust our production timeline to deliver your project on time.
We'll deliver files that match how you plan to use them. Common formats include MP4, MOV, GIF, high resolution images, transparent video files, vector graphics, and web ready assets. If you have specific technical requirements, we'll export your files to match.

We'll start with a conversation about your project. Please reach out at info@biotic-artlab.com. From there, we'll ask for your goals, target audience, scientific references, brand guidelines, timeline, and any existing scripts or messaging. Once we have that information, we'll prepare a proposal with the project scope, timeline, and deliverables.
