Position: Summer 2026 Medical Communications Intern

The Company

Biotic Artlab is an independent creative studio dedicated to visual storytelling for the fields of science and medicine. We are a team of illustrators, animators, and designers who believe in bridging the gap between medicine, technology, and art. Science doesn’t have to be complex. Through medical illustration, design, and animation, we support a wide range of clients – from pharma to biotech startups and everyone in between.

 

The Position

The medical communications internship at Biotic Artlab provides an opportunity to gain experience in healthcare-driven digital communication within a small creative studio. As an intern, you will work closely with our creative team to help develop ideas and content for marketing initiatives.

This role is ideal for someone interested in medical communications, science marketing, or digital strategy who enjoys translating complex scientific concepts into clear, engaging narratives for a general public audience. You will contribute to brainstorming, content planning, copy development, and visual storytelling efforts, while gaining insight into how a creative studio communicates its work and values.

Projects will focus on brand visibility, social media strategy, and thought leadership content. Specific projects will be defined based on the intern’s interests and studio needs.

 

Requirements

  • Degree or background in Marketing, Communications, Media Studies or a similar program
  • Strong written communication skills with attention to clarity and tone
  • Interest in marketing, social media, and digital storytelling within science or medicine
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn and Instagram as professional and creative platforms
  • Basic understanding of visual design principles
  • Available 10-16 hours/week during summer within normal business hours (Mon-Fri 9 a.m.-6 p.m.) Hours and dates flexible.

 

Necessary for application

Bonus qualities!

  • Experience with content strategy or analytics
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
  • Interest in science, medicine, or biotech communication
  • Experience brainstorming or planning social media campaigns

 

Responsibilities

  • Brainstorm and develop creative marketing and social media ideas aligned with Biotic Artlab’s visual and scientific storytelling, with emphasis on LinkedIn and Instagram.
  • Support planning and maintenance of a content calendar and posting workflow in collaboration with the creative team.
  • Track activity and trends across relevant platforms to stay informed on engagement opportunities, industry conversations, and audience interests.
  • Review basic social media metrics to understand post performance and help identify what content resonates.
  • Assist with creating and curating digital content, including captions, graphics, short-form video concepts, and studio updates.
  • Engage with the community by monitoring comments and messages and flagging meaningful interactions or opportunities.
  • Offer thoughtful suggestions to improve how Biotic Artlab presents its work and communicates across social platforms.
