Endothelial Keratoplasty Book Design
Overview
We collaborated with Maastricht University on the visual design of a PhD publication focused on endothelial keratoplasty. The project centred on creating a clear, thoughtful book cover and interior layout that supports scientific reading and long-form academic communication.
Our Solution
We took an abstract, geometric approach towards Fuch’s Corneal Endothelial Dystrophy. The transition of dark to light, and interrupted waves to straight lines represents the restoration of vision through endothelial keratoplasty.
Careful attention was given to typography, spacing, and visual rhythm, helping complex material feel clear and approachable without distracting from the content itself.

What is “endothelial keratoplasty”?
Endothelial keratoplasty is a corneal transplant procedure that replaces the damaged inner layer of the cornea. By targeting only the affected tissue, the surgery helps restore vision while preserving as much of the natural cornea as possible. Because the technique is highly specialised, clear scientific communication plays an important role in research and education.
