The client commissioned us to create a graphical abstract for a research article comparing the biomechanics of healthy and cancerous lymphatic systems. Our objective was to distill complex biomechanical processes into two clear, high-impact comparative visuals. We developed simplified, icon-style illustrations for each cell type to guide the reader through the biological mechanisms, then integrated them into a schematized lymphatic system. The resulting two-part graphical abstract clearly communicates how cancer hijacks lymphatic vessels.

Overview

What is lymphoma?
Lymphatic cancer, otherwise known as lymphoma, impacts the body’s disease-fighting network. The lymphatic system encompasses the lymph nodes/glands, spleen, thymus glands, and bone marrow. Your lymphatic system is in charge of removing excess fluids from your body, in addition to creating immune cells.
