Rocky Mountain goat exhibit signage illustration thumbnail for Calgary Zoo

Overview

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo approached us to design a new interpretive memorial installation for the Rocky Mountain goat habitat, supported by a generous donor who wanted to enrich educational storytelling at one of their favorite animal enclosures. The sign explores the specialized anatomy that makes mountain goats some of the world’s most skilled climbers, inspired by Biotic Artlab cofounder Tiffany Fung’s M.A. thesis research on biomechanical adaptation comparisons between human climbers and Rocky Mountain goats. The result is an installation that translates complex science into an engaging and accessible visual experience for zoo visitors.
